Phase I, II & III Site Assessments

The planning conditions for your site may outline the need for risk based Phase I (Desk Study), Phase II (Site Investigation) and Phase III (Remediation Design) assessments.

The UK risk based approach involves reviewing the potential for a contaminant source to reach a receptor (such as water supply or a site user). Where a potential linkage exists then either engineered solutions are defined (remediation design) or further assessment may be required (additional phases).

TLC has completed numerous Phase I, II & III studies and are experienced with negotiating with regulators the rapid discharge of contaminated land planning conditions.

A Phase III study may involve Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment (DQRA). DQRA involves calculating site specific assessment criteria based on industry standard groundwater and human health risk assessment models such as CLEA, MT3D, RBCA, ConSim, P20 (now RTM), & BP Risc. TLC applies these models in line with current regulatory guidance.

Our highly experienced staff have negotiated numerous agreements with the authorities. We can run a detailed QRA for your site in accordance with regulatory requirements, or review existing remediation design information and rapidly identify liabilities such as over, or under, remediation design.

TLC works closely with you to verify and/or optimise the remediation design.
